Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What does “Green” refer to when talking about cleaning chemicals?
A1. The word "Green" has various definitions depending on who you ask, but the definitions that we use are the ones created by the EPA for the (DfE) Design for the Environment and the USDA's BioPreferred programs for 'green' chemistry.
Q2. What is ‘Green’ chemistry?
A2. Green Chemistry is the use of chemistry for pollution prevention. More specifically, green chemistry is the design of chemical products and processes that are more environmentally benign. Green chemistry encompasses all aspects and types of chemical processes that reduce negative impacts to human health and the environment relative to the current state of the art. By reducing or eliminating the use or generation of toxic substances associated with a particular synthesis or process, chemists can greatly reduce risk to human health and the environment. This new approach to pollution prevention through the environmentally-conscious design of chemical products and processes is the central focus of the Green Chemistry Program.

Q3. How does Naturally Green Products help the environment?
A3. Naturally Green products are designed in accordance with the EPA's Design for the Environment and the USDA's BioPreferred Programs, which have more earth friendly products incorporated in their formulation. Our intent when creating the Naturally Green products' line was to develop a line of products that were as efficient in their design as powerful in their use.

Q5. Does “Green” mean that I can drink the product and not get hurt?
A5. All chemicals should be respected and should never be used for anything other than their intended use.
Q6. Can these products be poured down the drain and disposed of in the trash?
A6. Naturally Green products' recommends that you dispose of 'green' products in the same way you would dispose of any other product with the same use. The benefit to the environment of using 'green' products is that they minimize the impact to the landfills, waterways, and the air we breathe by the nature of their design.
Q7. Are your products biodegradable?
A7. Yes, our products are biodegradable and each product varies in how quick they biodegrade.
Q8. Can a DISINFECTANT be certified as a “GREEN” product?
A8. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) prohibits manufacturers or distributors from promoting, labeling, or marketing a disinfectant as “Green certified” to U.S. customers. The EPA has determined that the FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act) is sufficient assurance of a product’s safety and effectiveness and that any additional claims may be misleading. Thus, all disinfectants sold in the U.S. will have an EPA registration on the label along with product information and key ingredients which indicates what organisms it can eliminate when used properly.
Q9. Has Naturally Green Products taken additional precautions to make their DISINFECTANTS more ‘green’ although registration by FIFRA warrants that a product has met the EPA’s environmental and health guidelines and standards?
A9. Yes, at Naturally Green Products we have taken the extra precautions by using safer ingredients, ensuring the product meets additional performance, efficacy, human health and safety, and environmental requirements.
Q10. Why are some of your products under the label PERFORMER?
A10. All of the products listed that are of 'green' formulation are called Naturally Green Products. Those products that are 'Disinfectants' or a Non Green formulation have the name PERFORMER, so as not to confuse or deceive anyone. It is also for transparency and clarity for our customers. It is clear to all which products are truly 'green' and those that are not.
Q11. What is required of me in order to start using a ‘green’ cleaning product after using a non green for so many years?
A11. We recommend that you prepare the surfaces by cleaning with a ‘green’ degreaser, such as Naturally Green Products’ Heavy Duty Degreaser or All Purpose Cleaner and rinsing the surface thoroughly. A non ‘green’ product will leave a residue on a surface that can alter the cleaning performance of a truly ‘green’ product. This procedure is recommended in order to achieve the optimum and intended performance of a ‘green’ product. After this initial cleaning, you are ready to continue to use your ‘green’ products and the health benefits that come along with using non caustic, environment friendly and fragrance free products.
